LDS (Church
of Latter Day Saints) Filmed Marriage records for Hennepin County
The following
information was provided by another researcher, Dave Sadler.
"The
LDS library catalog is on-line and searchable. As far as I can
tell, it is the same one (or maybe even more current) than the
catalog found at the local LDS centers. Their catalog is not
exactly easy to use but after awhile you can find stuff, I
haven't spent much time looking at the web site, but I understand
you can order films on-line for use at a local LDS
library". Here is the main web page - http://www.familysearch.org/
Once on this page select the "Library" tab at the top
of the page. Once on the Library page, select the "Family
History Library Catalog" link, again at the top of the page.
With that you are on the Library Catalog page and here is the
direct url for that place -
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp
Once there you can start to get into the catalog. In the case of
looking for Hennepin County records, I selected the
"Place" button
and simply entered "Hennepin" into the search box.
After a couple more interactions I got to a page that showed
these search results -
Created in 1852 from Dakota County. In 1872 a portion of Ramsey
County was added.

Filmed Marriage records by the LDS

So they have on film Hennepin County marriage records from 1853
thru 1918.
There you go. And good luck! My experience has been spotty 'cause
a lot of the records are incomplete and remember there is not
much required for the Minnesota marriage license - name of Groom,
Bride, Minister and 2 Witnesses which is not a lot, but better
than nothing. In 1956 the state finally required parents names on
the license for the bride and groom.
