Hi my name is
and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for Kanabec County Minnesota. I
am working on making this a more informative site. If you have any
information, photo's, Surnames, etc. Send them to me and I will add
them to the site. If you have any suggestions, please send
them. I am always looking to make this a better site.
Kanabec County was first created in
1858. The County Seat for Kanabec is Mora. It is named after the
Ojibwe for the Snake River — Kanabecosippi or Ginebigo-ziibi — which flows
through the county.
It's cities/towns and communities
include: Ann Lake Township, Arthur Township, Brunswick Township,
Coin, Comfort Township, Grass Lake, Grasston, Hay Brook Township, Hillman
Township, Kanabec Township, Knife Township, Kroschel Township, Lewis
Lake, Mora, Ogilvie, Peace Township, Pomroy Township, Quamba, South Fork
Township, Warman and Woodland.
Kanabec County is located in eastern
Minnesota. Neighboring Minnesota counties include: Aitkin county to the north;
Pine county to the east; Chisago County to the southeast; Isanti county to the south; and Mille Lacs county to

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists
organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide
a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases
would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked,
so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be
located in the index. This lead to the USGenWeb of which Minnesota is a part.
The World Gen Web Project was created by Dale
Schneider in 1995 to answer the ever growing needs of genealogists all over
the world who were trying to research their ancestors. The goal is to have
every country in the world represented and hosted by hosts who either live
in that country or are familiar with that countries
