Hi my name is Colleen  and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for Kanabec County Minnesota.  I am working on making this a more informative site.  If you have any information, photo's, Surnames, etc.  Send them to me and I will add them to the site.  If you have any suggestions, please send them.  I am always looking to make this a better site.

Kanabec County was first created in 1858.  The County Seat for Kanabec is Mora.  It is named after the Ojibwe for the Snake River Kanabecosippi or Ginebigo-ziibi which flows through the county.

It's cities/towns and communities include:  Ann Lake Township, Arthur Township, Brunswick Township,  Coin, Comfort Township,  Grass Lake, Grasston, Hay Brook Township, Hillman Township, Kanabec Township, Knife Township, Kroschel Township,  Lewis Lake, Mora, Ogilvie, Peace Township, Pomroy Township, Quamba, South Fork Township, Warman and Woodland.

Kanabec County is located in eastern Minnesota.  Neighboring Minnesota counties include:  Aitkin county to the north; Pine county to the east; Chisago County to the southeast;  Isanti county to the south; and Mille Lacs county to the west.

The MinnesotaGenWeb Project

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. This lead to the USGenWeb of which Minnesota is a part.

WorldGenWeb Project

The World Gen Web Project was created by Dale Schneider in 1995 to answer the ever growing needs of genealogists all over the world who were trying to research their ancestors. The goal is to have every country in the world represented and hosted by hosts who either live in that country or are familiar with that countries resources.
