Historical Society Building

Please use the north entrance of the Historical Society building. A small parking lot is located adjacent to the entry, with additional parking available to the north next to the Lakeville Area Arts Center (the former All Saints Church). Follow the sidewalk on the west side of the Arts Center to the north door of the LAHS building and go to the lower level for the program. For a ride or more information, please call 952-985-4406.

The 2006 calendar sells for $9. A gift-wrapped keepsake packet containing the first eight calendars (1998-2005) is priced at $20.00. Individual calendars from previous years sell for $3.00 each.

The 2006 calendar features photos including V. T. Wren's Trucking crew loading ice blocks, the Fitzgerald home bordering Lake Marion, the prom for the District 194 classes of 1954 and 1955, Emil Cihak with his mules and wagon, the Pan-O-Prog cow chip throwing contest, the Orchard Lake class of 1937, the Lakeville Cornet Band, the old Catholic Church Rectory and more.
All calendar sales proceeds go toward developing our display and research areas at the Historical Society's building on the Arts Center campus.
Commemorative calendars are available at in Lakeville, MN at City Hall, 20195 Holyoke Av, M-F, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Water Treatment Facility, 18400 Ipava, M-F, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; several local businesses; or by calling 952-469-2541.

Anyone who would like to volunteer is invited to call President Vern Jensen at 952-469-2541. Opportunities include:

Developing and constructing displays.

Interviewing longtime residents to obtain oral history.

Working with the Collections Committee to catalog photos, clippings and memorabilia.

Presenting brief talks on Lakeville's history to local students and groups. A script is available.

Volunteers donated 1,000 hours in 2005 to the Lakeville Area Historical Society.
