Welcome to the Lake of the Woods County GenWeb Project. Lake of the Woods County is Minnesota's youngest county, having been carved out of Beltrami County in 1922. The county has the distinction of being the northernmost point in the lower 48 states. On flat maps it may appear that Maine is further north but that is an illusion. The county seat is Baudette.

We are a free, genealogical and historical website run by volunteers Vikki Gray and Michael Andrews to assist you in your research. That means that we locate and post materials and handle the website. But this website is yours! Please feel free to submit genealogy or history-related data for us to post here.

fish NEWSPAPERS - RARE

Timothy Hughes Rare & Early Newspapers would be another website that could be listed here as a resource on the "MNResearchResources and Links" page. (Their website is http://www.rarenewspapers.com/ ).

You can search a database of authentic newspapers on their site (by keyword, date, and more). If someone is looking for a specific edition of a newspaper (such as the St Paul Weekly Minnesotian, St Paul Press, and more) or is looking for information on a topic during their research, they might have it in stock. It could be a valuable resource for your visitors.

They have been dealers in rare & historic newspapers for more than 35 years and currently serve as consultants to the Freedom Forum Newseum, and are members of the American Antiquarian Society and the Ephemera Society of America.
