About Us

The Lake Minnetonka Chapter usually meets the fourth Saturday each month.

Members come from Wayzata, MN; Minnetonka, MN; and areas surrounding
Lake Minnetonka in the western suburbs of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The Lake Minnetonka Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, was founded in 2005 and named for the spectacularly historic and beautiful Lake Minnetonka in the area we serve. Our membership is drawn from the West Metro suburbs of Minneapolis, including our home base of Wayzata, and cities like Minnetonka, Excelsior, Medina, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, St. Michael and Plymouth. The chapter is committed to promoting and honoring patriotism, American History education, historic preservation and veterans. Chapter activities include:

  • Annual “Plant a Flag for Freedom” Veterans Day Event at Heritage Park, Wayzata
  • “Outstanding Teachers of American History” Awards in area school districts
  • Award-winning scholarship and Essay Contest entrants
  • Recognition of Constitution Week in conjunction local schools and government
  • Genealogy preservation
  • Historical monument restoration

We are a young and growing chapter with active volunteers doing good work in our community…please join us!

Membership

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR):

~ The largest women's patriotic organization in the world ~
~ Over 165,000 members, with 3,000 chapters in all 50 states and 12 countries ~

We welcome women who want to participate in
the historical, educational, and patriotic activities of the DAR.

Membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is
a unique opportunity to establish lineage and heritage as a descendant of a patriot
of the Revolutionary War. Volunteering through the DAR is an effective way to
honor our patriot ancestors, recognize their roles in establishing the
United States of America, and carry forth their purpose of American freedom.

Information
We are delighted to answer questions about the DAR or patriot lineage.

Criteria
Prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence;
document each statement of birth, marriage, and death in the lineal line;
document the ancestor's patriotic service in the Revolutionary War; and
be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Accepted Service of Patriots

19 April 1775 - 26 November 1783

Revolutionary War service also includes being a signer of the Declaration of Independence,
or someone who performed civil service duties or provided patriotic service.
