Th G Austdal

Thorsteinn G Austdal, one of the Lake Stay pioneers, a brother of Mrs John Rafnson, of Minneota, and A G Westdal of Swede Prairie, died at his home in Lake Stay, Lincoln county, last Friday [February 23, 1917]. He was 78 years of age.

The deceased was a native of Iceland and came to America about forty years ago. He settled in Lake Stay shortly after coming here and was one of the very first settlers in that township. He enjoyed pleasant relations with all his neighbors and was esteemed; by those who associated with him, to a high degree. He was an intelligent, well-read man, quiet in his ways, pleasant in his manner and cordial to all.

He is survived by two daughters and three stepsons. The daughters are: Mrs Walter Gudmundson, of Lake Stay, and Mrs Dearborn Sibley, who resides in South Dakota. The stepsons are: P J Gudmundson, Thor Gudmundson and Sigfinnur Gudmundson.

The funeral was held from the Icelandic Lutheran church in Lincoln county, last Tuesday, Rev E J Hinderlie, officiating.
