ABOUT US
One of the oldest and largest Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Chapters in Minnesota, the Monument Chapter was chartered in Minneapolis on Dec. 11, 1900.
On Feb. 2, 2013, the chapter charter location was moved from Minneapolis to Edina to more accurately reflect that most members live in the southwest metro including south Minneapolis, Edina, Hopkins, Eden Prairie and Bloomington.
With over 80 members, it is one of the fastest growing chapters in the NSDAR North Central region.
Meetings are held over the lunch hour on the second Thursday of the month during March, April, June, August, September and November. In December a luncheon meeting is held on the first Saturday of the month.
During May and October, members attend the Minnesota State DAR meetings, and in July the National Society DAR Continental Congress in Washington D.C.
Membership is drawn primarily from South Minneapolis, Edina, Bloomington, Eden Prairie and Hopkins with chapter meeting locations rotating throughout these cities. Residents of other areas of the Minneapolis metro are welcome to join if meeting locations and times are convenient for them.
If you have an ancestor who served in the American Revolution and you have an interest in preserving American History through patriotism, historic preservation, genealogy and education, Monument Chapter invites you to attend one of our meetings.
Any woman over the age of 18 who can prove lineal, blood line descent, from one of the more than 123,000 proven patriots, is eligible to join the Daughters of the American Revolution. If you have a 4th or 5th great grandparent (man or woman) who was born between about 1700 and 1760, and who lived in the American Colonies during the American Revolution, you may be the descendant of an American patriot.
