KRANT, BREYER
Researching Friedrick Krant, lived on a farm approximately 7 to 8 miles north of Glencoe.  Present owner of farm is Erwin Posusta.  Approximate time frame is 1900 - 1901.  I am not sure he is buried in this county or not. I would just be happy to know he existed at all.  I just have church records from a church in Lester Prairie to verify his existence.  He is my g-g-grandfather.  He could have been at this farm site since 1877. That is a date I have from a church record and cannot read the German headings of the columns.

I am researching any information on Friedrich Krant.  Died 7/7/1902.  Lived in McLeod County, MN.  Can not find any data indicating that he died in that county.  He had the following children with wife Caroline (Breyer) August, Augusta, & Mathilde.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LOPINSKI, CACAKA
I'm searching for my g-grand father and mother. Emil Max Lopinski - He was born Oct. 12, 1864 in Stranz, West Prussia. He married Josephine Cacaka from Austria. They emigrated to the U.S. sometime in the late 1800's. I have found them in the 1895 and 1900 Census. In 1895 they lived in the township of Collins, county of McLeod, MN. Emil was 30 and Josie was 28, they had two children Mary 3 and Adelia 2. Emil was a farmer and Josie a housekeeping. In 1900 Census they were in the township of Penn. MN. They had 4 more children; Tillie, Rosa, John and Frank. The Census states immigration 1888, 12 yrs in the U.S. and that they were naturalized. He rented his land and farm schedule 68. I have not found their naturalization papers or any thing else. Josephine died in between the census. I have no record of her death. It also appears that Adelia died also. Emil moved to Canada in 1902 or 1903. He came with a group called German American Land Co. headed by Catholic Settlement Society of St. Paul. Messrs. Haskamp and Hoeschen were the organizers. And a group of 26 men. Rev. Father Bruno Doerfler was among these people also. If you happen to find any information would you please contact me at wazwwt@shaw.ca. I'm at a stand still.
Thank-you very much,

MULVANNY, GRAU
I am researching my Great Grandparents John and Augusta (GRAU) MULVANNY.  They owned a General Store in Winsted between 1875-1890 (somewhere in there). Is there a place I can find a business directory for Winsted that may give me more information on the store and them?

The store may have been owned by her parents, Edward and Mary GRAU.  Any information on the GRAUs, the store or the MULVANNYs would be quite helpful. (Or the direction to find them)

PEDERSEN (PEDERSON, PETERSEN, PETERSON), CHRISTENSEN, FREDERICKSON, JENSEN
Searching for ancestors and descendents of my maternal grandparents Christ (Christian) PEDERSEN (PEDERSON, PETERSEN, PETERSON) and Mette Jensen CHRISTENSEN.  My records have Christian born in Vejle, Denmark May 23, 1848 and died March 26, 1930 in Hutchinson.  Mette was born in Kjerblling, Vejle, Denmark February 05, 1858 and died December 05, 1927 in Hutchinson.  Both Christian and Mette are buried in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.

Christian first married Anna Sophia FREDERICKSON, born unknown and died estimated about 1881 in Vejle, Denmark.  Christian and Anna had 3 children, 2 died between 1871 - 1881 and one son, Nels JENSEN (a.k.a. Nels CHRISTENSEN), who came to America.  Nels died in 1942 (Wyoming or Minnesota) and is buried in Oakland Cemetery alongside Christian and Mette.

Christian then married Mette March 21, 1883, probably in Vejle, Denmark and immediately came to America where they first lived in Oxford N.J.  They moved to a farm in or near Hutchinson about 1889 where they lived the rest of their lives.  Christian and Mette lived at 646 Oak Street in Hutchinson -- I don't know if this home was located on the farm they originally settled on.  I've been told that Christian built the stone / concrete wall along the east side of College Hill (highway #15).

Christian and Mette had 7 children:  Sophus PETERSEN (1884 - 1964), John N. PETERSON (1886 - 1965), Christ (Chris) M. PETERSON (a.k.a. C.M.) (1887 - 1964), Hans M. PETERSON (1891 - 1968), Anna Mette PETERSON (1894 - 1979) and twins Martha Johana PETERSON and Mary Hansina PETERSON (both 1896 - 1987).  Mary (better known as Marie) was my mother.

I will be happy to share the information I have already collected, including many pictures from the early 1900s in the Hutchinson area and some from Denmark in the late 1800s.  I have created a CD with these pictures and will gladly burn a copy for any family member who is seriously interested.

Thank you!

CHAPMAN
I am writing a history of Nevada Land, talking about how the land left federal ownership and became private. In a history that doesn't seem to be online anymore, I read that " William S. CHAPMAN led a party of prairie surveyors" including Mr. McLeod for whom the county is named, to Glencoe. Mr. Chapman later played an important role in early Nevada land history, as a buyer with Sioux Half-breed Scrip. I am trying to find out if the surveyors he led at Glencoe were government surveyors, or private party civil engineer surveyors. Also, what year the party of surveyors came to Glencoe.

KRUGER, DEUBNER
My great grandfather was Johann (John) Fredrieck Kruger, born 16 Aug. 1847.  Birth place we have found on his census records are Posen or Preusen, Prussia and Prague. We haven't found out exactly where he was from.  We have different dates as to when he came to USA:

 1. In June 25th 1867 on his Naturalization paper, probably the most accurate.
 2. In 1864 found in his obituary .
 3. 1870 according to the 1900 census.
 4. 1867 according to the 1910 and 1920 census.(same as No. 1).

John Kruger was on the MN Fed census of 1870 in Lynn township, McLeod County.  Page no. of microfilm is 005.

He became a naturalized USA citizen in 1883 - source is 1920 census and his second naturalization papers.

Beginning with the 1880 census we find him in Barnesville, MN, USA.  We have found him on the following censuses:

 1. 1880 USA Federal census.
 2. 1895 Minnesota State census.
 3. 1900 USA Federal census.
 4. 1905 Minnesota census.
 5. 1910 USA Federal census.
 6. 1920 USA Federal census.

My grandmother said he was from Luxemburg???.  He lived on a farm in Clay County, Humboldt Township near Barnesville, MN, USA.

He married Ernestine Wilhemina Deubner on 11-23-1885 in Barnesville, MN.  Six children were born: John Friedrich, George Freidrich, Ida, Arthur and 2 infants died.  John Fred Kruger died 3-18-1922 and is buried in the German Lutheran Cemetery, west of Barnesville, MN.  So far we haven't found out where he is from, would he be in your family history?

MARSHALL
My mother passed a photo on to me before she died in 1986, which has always fascinated me. The inscriptions are clearly visible and read – 1.Thomas Marshall b.6th Feb 1837 d. 24th Nov 1905 (Who I believe to be my great great grandfather). 2.Agur Marshall b. 25 Dec 1832 d. 14 Apr 1905 She told me that her great grandfather went to America to meet up with relatives that were already established there. Later he was to send for his wife and seven children, but for some reason this didn’t happen and they remained in Yorkshire, England. They were never to see their father again. But later a man visited the family (I believe this to be Agur), causing some attention with his cowboy appearance in a small northern English town. He brought £100 each for the Marshall sons and daughters, enough to buy a small house in those days. I would love to know the location of the graves and if they still exist. As Agur is the more unusual name I thought this would be the one to research. There is an Agur Marshall who married an Ann Nuttall in Halifax Yorkshire, England; in 1853 their ages are 20 and 21 respectively making their dates of birth 1832/3. This area ties up with the whereabouts of other members of the family. The US census return for 1880 shows an Agur and Ann living with their son Robert (b. 1866, MN) in Winsted, Mcleod, Minnesota. Both aged 49 yrs, making the birth dates of 1832/3 correspond. Occupation Farmer. Birthplace England. Also Ships Passenger Search shows Agur and Ann returning from Liverpool on SS Lucania after a visit to England. Could it be Agur that brought the windfall to the Marshall children? I would appreciate any suggestions to help me with my research and on finding the lost graves. Regards, Margaret Berry England

WILLIAMS
I am doing Williams research that is specific to Glencoe. I have some Williams names in my family that I'm working on, plus a doc with a little info. Here is what I have so far: Edward Probert WILLIAMS b.7/30/1855 in Clydack Wales m. Mary Broad 1/4/1856 in Llanhilleth, S. Wales The immigrated to US via Portland ME in 1891 and went to Minnesota. With them were three children, Alfred Edward b. 1882, Sarah Anne (Annie) and Harriet (Hattie). Also coming with them were Mary's sister, Esther (no last name) and her three children. Mary and Edward had a child, Charles Spurgeon WILLIAMS in February of 1892 while they were living in Glencoe, MN. Another child, Raymond Henry Probert WILLIAMS was born in Brownsdale, MN 2/28/1895. Another son, Bertrand Llewellan WILLIAMS was born in Sheffield, IA (no date). A half bro, Franklin Pierce WILLIAMS was born in Thomson, IL, as near as is known. Now this last one I find interesting because it shows the family's migration to IA, where their oldest son, Alfred Edward ended up living a lot of his life. But in order for Franklin to be a half-brother, it seems Mary would have died and Edward Probert remarried....but it's back in Thomson, IL again. Unless, of course, they were Mormon or there was some kind of hanky-panky going on. So, if you did not have any of this info, I am glad to share it with you. If you have any info that I don't show, I would really appreciate seeing it. Also, I have the descendancy of Alfred Edward, but will wait for you to ask to send it! Patti Stoll ggdau of Alfred Edward WILLIAMS Poulsbo, WA USA
