A Publication of the Norman County
The 2002 in Review
We have been putting copies of the obituaries from newspapers into binders. They are being placed in the Ada Library and Ada, Shelly and Twin Valley museums.
Old photos from the Aalgaard Studio were at the Fair for anyone to look for and identify.
Two more sets of newspaper microfilms were to be ordered for the library.
A request was made for memorabilia and interesting newspaper clippings. We thank Dayton Hanson and Gaylen and Sharon Larson for sharing. We also are asking for funeral obituary folders.
Margit Bakke donated two Flom History books for the Ada and Shelly museums. This is a very interesting and well researched book.
We are working on updating cemetery records. Several books have been completed. Deb Jacobson brought the Bethany book recently finished by Shelly members. These have pictures of the gravestones and family histories. Others who have volunteered to research different cemeteries are Jennifer Atwood, Alden Andersen, Audrey Felske and George Gilbertson
An important project in the next few months will be setting up our Genealogy Corner in the new log museum in Ada. We planed to have material available for persons to do research when the museum is open. There is a need for volunteers to be there to welcome visitors at these times.
We continue to receive correspondence and memberships from person out of the area. Many have found us on our web page.
Our 2002 paid membership was 16 locally with 15 out of the area.
2003 memberships are now due: $10-Norman County and $5-Associate, out of county.
President Iris Duklet announces that Feb. 15 is the annual meeting.
