Olde Fashioned Christmas
Saturday December 6, 1-8:30 PM
Visit the History Center decked out in its Christmas splendor. A twelve foot tree decorated with popcorn and loaded with unique ornaments is the center piece for the wide array of festive decorations. Caroling with the antique church organ starts at 6 PM as the Center participates with the community celebration loaded with lots of family activities including sleigh rides through the streets of town.
Christmas at the Watkins House
Sunday December 14, 1-4 PM
Come and enjoy an afternoon of cider and cookies as you visit the Watkins house decked out in Christmas! It’s our way of saying “thank you” for your support the past year in making it possible to tell the beginning story of the Watkins enterprise.

Winter Lecture Series
"Sunday at the Center" Sunday March 15 & 22, 1-2 PM
This year’s series tentatively features the story of Wards Medical Company, founded by Geo. Landon, Plainview druggist from the firm Landon & Burchard as well as related topics. It will also hit upon Plainview’s “George Washington’s Birthday” celebrations over the years.

History with the Schools

The History Center will be sharing its history! Students will experience an old fashioned country school and learn about Thomas Edison and his amazing phonographs!

Greenwood Cemetery Walk
Saturday June 28 1-3 PM
Take a historic journey to Plainview’s Greenwood Cemetery and experience unique stories told by local volunteers as they re-enact persons from Plainview’s past! This year’s event is entitled “Shady Characters”!

Wednesday Evening Mystery Walks
Wednesday July 1 & 8 6:30 -7:30 PM
Spend an hour walking around Plainview’s historic streets and learn facts about the sites within walking distance of the History Center.

Prairie Town Musical - "The Storm"

Enjoy an original musical comedy about the mythical town of “Prairie Town” as yet another tale unfolds giving the audience a glimpse into everyday life of long ago. This year Ada and Norman Griegor, Prairie Town’s endearing couple, return for more of their story as they face a storm that threatens to tear their family apart. You won’t want to miss this!
