Pomeranian Genealogy, Culture, and History
by
Paul Sternberg, Janice and Jerry Savage
With hundreds of pre-war and post-war photos and postcards,
collected over five years by the Pommern Regional Group of
Minnesota, Pomeranian Genealogy, Culture, and History is
alphabetically organized with 43 topics from Amber to Writing Your
Story. Heartfelt recollections of manor home life, farm life,
seasons and holidays have been assembled in this work, as well as
useful tips for traveling in Poland and using the archives. Every
Pomeranian county/Kreis has a written description with photos,
making this a useful guide for all Pomeranians with 268 pages and
733 b/w photos.
Author Paul Sternberg has been to Pommern three times especially
Schlochau, Rummelsburg, and Neustettin. He has traveled 2300 miles
over the area and has taken over 3500 photos. He has a great
interest in the area churches. His ancestors came from Schlochau.
Co-authors Jan and Jerry Savage have been to Pommern seven times!
They enjoy vacationing in Naugard/Nowogard. As seen above, Jerry
makes instant friends wherever he goes.
Jan Savage enjoys the history and research of the area as well
as the natural beauty. Her ancestors came from Naugard and Dramburg.

A review:
I just wanted to let you know that your recently-published book,
Pomeranian Genealogy, Culture, and History, is a most welcome
addition to our Pommerscher Verein Freistadt library. The explosive
bright red cover is a real attention-getter.
Presenting the contents in alphabetical order by topic is a unique
approach. You were wise to keep the double-column text in short
paragraphs, so that the pages have eye appeal and don't weary the
reader. The many delightful photos are sharp and detailed. Even
experienced Pomeranian researchers will find much of interest here.
I took special note of the helpful comments on using the various
archives in Germany and Poland.
Congratulations on your accomplishment. Your book will delight many people.
Elaine Hackbarth Kraft, Librarian, Pommerscher Verein Freistadt
