    Printed on the form was this statement: This organization was first mustered in for 3 months and under directions of the War Department it was again mustered in for 3 years with condition that those not willing to enlist for 3 years to be mustered out.


    MUSTER ROLL of men mustered out, having enlisted for 3 months and refusing to enlist for 3 years.*  -
*This regiment was organized for 3 months but before leaving the rendezvous a call have been made for 3 years men, it was changed to a 3 years organization.  Those men refusing to enlist for 3 years were mustered out. -  *The men whose names are borne upon this roll enlisted for 3 months and upon reorganization of the regiment for 3 years, being unwilling to enlist for that period, were mustered out.


   CONCLUSION: Appears Gilbert was in less than a month and mustered out, apparently why there are no further records.
