RUNAWAYS
Chester Fisk, of Sheridan
Township, visited our village on Saturday, astride a young
horse. Reaching town he hitched his horse to a post and
left him while he transacted some business with our
merchants. Ere long his nag was seen dashing through the
streets at a rate of speed which showed that said horse had
no regard for Dexter's reputation. Mr. Fisk walked home,
but his steed had anticipated him.
On Wednesday Aleck Schmahl was
seen driving through town at a higher rate of speed than is
allowed by our municipal code. The horse had been affected
with the epizootic and deemed a little fun no impropriety.
But Aleck held fast to the ribbons, and after numerous
narrow escapes from dire disaster succeeded in getting
control of the animal before any damage had been done.
