Erna King, 92, of Belview and formerly of Echo passed
away Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at the Parkview Home
in Belview. Services were held Sunday afternoon from
the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with
burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Erna Laura King was born March 11, 1912 in Sheridan
Township, Redwood County to Rose Bangerter Austin and
was raised by her grandparents, John and Elizabeth
Bangerter. She attended county school and lived in
Redwood and Yellow Medicine counties while growing
up. On July 2, 1927, Erna married George King in
Montana. They returned to Minnesota and farmed in
Redwood and Yellow Medicine counties. In 1976 the
couple retired and moved to Echo.
On October 24, 1993 George passed away and Erna
continued to live in Echo. Erna moved to the Parkview
Home in Belview in December 2001. Erna enjoyed
crafts, arranging wedding flowers, and cooking. She
enjoyed bird watching while residing at the Parkview
Home and special friendships with the staff. She is
survived by her daughter Darlene Pederson of Belview;
sons Larry (Pat) King of St. Francis, Joe (Mary)
McCarty of Ramsey, and Wayne (Margy) King of Echo; a
sister LuVerne Popken of Petaluma, Calif.; 18
grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her parents, husband George, son Ronald and
brother Russell Austin."
