Harry Adams

Harry was born in St. Vincent, Minnesota on September 5, 1894. In 1905 he moved with his parents, John and Salome Adams, to Portage La Prairie. In 1907, they moved to the Burnside district where he went to school and then worked on the family farm. From 1917 to 1918 he served with the Canadian Armed Forces in Winnipeg. In 1922, he moved to California where he worked as a pipe fitter for three years and then worked in the oil fields for seven years. He returned to work on his parent's farm from 1933 to 1948 when he and his parents and sister, Margaret, moved into Portage. For the next few years, he was employed at the MacDonald Airport, northwest of Portage. On June 7, 1986, he died at the age of 91, after having lived on his own at numerous addresses and a couple of apartment blocks in Portage. He is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Portage.
