Bride-Elect Given Attractive Party on Sunday Evening
One of Yakima's popular brides-elect, Miss Lola Bernath, was guest of honor at a pretty evening party and shower given by Mrs. A. C. Lamberton in her home Sunday.
Pink and white flowers were used about the rooms, where 17 guests enjoyed games for which prizes were won by Mrs. J. J. Bernath, Miss Bernath's mother, and Mrs. A. Mowery. Miss Joan Lamberton, daughter of the hostess, presented the gifts to Miss Bernath.
Each of the small refreshment tables was centered with a tall pink candle. Streamers led from the candles to the place cards, which were lovely favors, miniature brides, each carrying a tiny bouquet of fragrant lily of the valley.
Mrs. H. C. Wilson, mother of Miss Bernath's fiancé, assisted Mrs. Lamberton in entertaining. Mr. And Mrs. Wilson had entertained a few days earlier with a May day dinner party in their Ahtanum Heights home, with a pink and blue centerpiece and May basket favors. Kenzel Wilson, their son, was also an honored guest at the affair.
Miss Bernath will leave this week for the east, where she will be married to James W. Wilson, who is planning to meet her in Chicago. Miss Bernath is a graduate of St. Elizabeth's school of nursing, and has done advanced work at the University of Washington. Mr. Wilson and his bride will make their home in Rochester, N.Y., where he is attending the University of Rochester. He, like Miss Bernath, was graduated from Yakima High School, and also from Washington State College. For the past three years he has been doing advanced work at the University of Rochester, from which he will receive his degree of doctor of philosophy in chemical engineering in June.
