In 1880, Alexander and his wife, Mary, and their three daughters came to the Red River Valley. Relatives in Scotland kept the two boys to raise and educate, one a doctor, and the other a banker. The Campbell family established a home two miles south of St. Vincent, Minnesota in the Red River Valley.
