Hallock, Minn - Ellwood Carlson, 76, Hallock, died at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, Monday, Dec. 2, 2002.

He was born in Jupiter Township of Kittson County Feb 2. 1926, the son of William and Edith (Gunnarson) Carlson. Ellwood grew up near Kennedy, and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1943.

On July 12th of 1947 he married Altha Westerberg at Lancaster. The couple made their home in Thompson Township and farmed there.

Ellwood worked at the Kittson County Locker from 1966 to 1999 and continued to work on several area farms until last summer. He was a long time member of the Hallock Covenant Church.

Family members include his wife, Altha; a son, Dean (Carol) Carlson, Kennedy; two daughters, Dianne (Lawrence) Wilkie, Shore View, and Dori (Mark) Helgeson, Park River, ND; nine grandchildren, Kara, Kevin, Lisa, Melissa, Alan, Todd, Andrew, Seth, and Ian; and a brother, Vergil (Barbara) Carlson, Bethel, Conn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Chester.

Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, 10:30 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock.

Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Rev. Robert Kippley, presided.

Pallbearers were Lowell Younggren, Charles Younggren, Joel Muir, Philip Muir, Jim Johnson and Perry Pearson.

Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock, was in charge of arrangements.
