Delsie Schulte

Savage, Minn. - Delsie Leona Schulte, 81, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at her lake home after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Delsie Leona (Cedergren) Schulte was born May 7, 1922 in Orleans, the daughter of Herman and Esther (Hanson) Cedergren.

She was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth in her home area of Lancaster. She graduated from high school in Lancaster, and continued her education at Beautician School. She later attended Hutchinson Vocational School in the 1980s.

Dec. 26, 1953, Delsie was united in marriage to George Schulte at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Their marriage was blessed with six children, Karon, Janet, Stacy, Kimberly, Melanie, and Clay.

Delsie and George traveled around the world following George's military career and made their home in many places, including Weisbaden, Germany; Falls Church, Virginia, and in Hutchinson.

Delsie enjoyed taking care of her family as a loving wife and mother.

Delsie and George were blessed with 42 years of marriage together, before George died in 1995.

For the past seven years, Delsie has made her home in Savage.

Delsie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, where she was also a member of the Dorcus Club. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, bargain shopping, and loved spending time at her family lake home on the White Fish Chain, near Pine River.

Delsie is survived by her daughters, Karon Johnson, Guam; Janet Spalding and her husband, Jeffrey, Portland, Ore; Stacy Rouse, Colorado Springs, Col.; Kimberly Schulte, Savage; Melanie Brauer and her husband, Robert, Springfield, Ill; son, Clay Schulte and his wife, Cammie, White Fish Lake; grandchildren, Stephanie Rouse, Shelby, Lauren, and Gwen Spalding, Travis, Alexis, and Britta Brauer, and Alexandra Schulte; sisters, Alice Homstad, Grafton; Mickie Beck and her husband, Bill, Calf.; Shirley Homstad and her husband, Lowell, Lancaster; brothers, Russell Cedergren, Lancaster; Lowell Cedergren and his wife, Alvina, Lancaster; Curt Cedergren and his wife, Connie, Finlayson; sister-in-law, Dorothy Schulte, Hopkins; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Les and Lucille Smith, Hutchinson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Delsie was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Esther Cedergren, husband, George Schulte, and sister, Ruth Krueger.
