Charles Cederholm

Charles V. Cederholm, 71, Hallock, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock.

Charles Victor Cederholm was born the son of Jonas and Violet (McIntyre) Cederholm at Northcote Feb. 321, 1928.

He moved with his parents to Hallock and graduated from Hallock High School in 1946. He attended UND and St. Cloud State University.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

On Nov. 6, 1954 he married Kaye Walters at Hallock. They lived for a time in Kennedy before making their home in Hallock.

Charlie was employed by Northwest Implement at Hallock, worked as a bookkeeper for Kennedy Trading Compoany in Kennedy, and in the early 1960s went into partnership with his brother Donald and operated Cederhom Oil Company at Hallock. Charlie and Kaye also owned and operated C-K Gas Stop at Hallock.

He was a member and Sr. Warden of St. John's Episcopal Church at Hallock. Charlie was active in many civic and county organizations, including the Kittson County Historical Society, Kittson County Civil Defense, Hallock Bicentennial Committee, Greenwood Cemetery Association, and Hallock Skating Rink Building Committee.

He was a member and past president of the Hallock Lions Club, Hallock Businessmens Association, a member of Modern Woodmen, Hallock Eagles, Hallock, Curling Club, Hallock Chamber of Commerce, served on the Hallock Fire Department for 22 years, and also was a member of the Hallock Volunteer Ambulance Squad, past adjutant of G. A. Leonard Norberg American Leion Post #63 of Hallock, past commander of Hennedy VFW Post #3828, and served as a U.S. Weather Bureau observer in Hallock for 28 years.

Charlie liked to spend time at their cabin at Lake Bronson and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, old cars, flying, and photography.

Family survivors include his wife, Kaye Cederholm, Hallock; three daughers, Sue Cederhold and Deb Cederholm, Fargo; and Joni Cederholm, Bemidji; two brothers,l Harvey (Lois) Cederholm, South Haven; Donald (Shirley) Cederholm, Hallock.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, 1 p.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church at Hallock. Rev. Page Towne officiated.

Pallbearers were John Younggren, Bob Cameron, Jim Sjostrand, Jerry Lindegard, Dave Klein, and Duane Nordling.

Honorary pallbearers were all friends.

Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery at Hallock. Military honors were accorded by G. A. Leonard Norberg American Legion Post #63 and Kennedy VFW Post #3828.

Arrangements were with Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock.
