Gregory James Clark

Gregory James Clark, 51, Stephen, Minnesota, died Wednesday, January 26, 2000 in North Valley Health Center at Warren, Minnesota.

Gregory Clark was born June 6, 1948 at Hallock, Minnesota, the son of the (late) James and Lois (Stewart) Clark. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Stephen, MN. He attended school and graduated in 1966 from Stephen High School.

He attended Moorhead State University. In 1968, he entered the U.S. Army and served as a personal attache' to a "Bird" Colonel at Fort Lewis, Washington and Presidio of San Francisco.

On July 18, 1970, he was united in marriage to Catherine Ann Benson at First Lutheran Church, Stephen, MN.

Upon discharge from the U.S. Army, he was a police officer on the Grand Forks Police Department while waiting for his call to enter the U.S. Border Patrol Academy.

On March 27, 1972, he resigned his position on the police department and entered the U.S. Border Patrol at Yuma, Arizona. He attended Arizona Western University and received his degree in Criminal Justice. He also attended the F.B.I. Academy during the training period.

Greg was permanently disabled with a massive head injury while on duty as a criminal investigator with the Department of Justice in Cleveland, Ohio on July 14, 1979. He was returned to Grand Forks, ND where he resided at Valley Memorial Nursing Home until entering the Good Samaritan Home in Warren, MN on July 16, 1991.

He was a former member of the American Legion Post #390, AF&AM Masons, and the Ancient Arabian Order of the Nobel and Mystic Shrine.

Family members include his daughter, Megan Aneta and granddaughter, Emma Catherine, of Fargo, ND; his son, Christopher Greg, currently serving in the U.S. Navy in Yokoswka, Japan; his mother, Lois of Stepohen, MN; his brother, Dr. Brad (DeborahP Clark, Kindred, ND; two sisters, Cynthis (Bruce) Bondy and Jami (Jeffrey) Nelson of Stephen, MN; six nieces and two nephews and numberous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim, and a special cousin, John Lazarczyk.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2000 at First Lutheran Church in Stephen with Rev. Michael Schendel officiating. Special music was provided by Susan Albrecht and Rev. Michael Schendel with Jody Paulson as organist. Casketbearers were the officers of the U.S. Border Patrol and the Grand Forks Police Department. Honorary casketbearers were the staffof the Good Samaritan Home, Warren, MN. Interment was in Stephen City Cemetery.
