The following information is from the notice of William Mathews (note misspelling) in local newspaper called, The P.E.I. Agriculturist (Summerside), for 30 Dec 1911, p. 5:
He died at Portage, Lot 10 on 20 Dec 1911, aged 70 years. He was survived by two brothers and one sister, his wife, two daughters and eight sons. The two daughters and eight sons were as follows: Mrs. Albert Boyle, Freeland; Mrs. O. L. Brightman, Fall River, Mass; William, North Wiltshire; Benjamin and Nelson Keir, Humbolt, Man. (meant Humboldt, Minnesota); Edward, Clermont, N.H.; Seymour, Fall River, Mass; Russell, Saskatchewan; and John and Samuel, at home. He was buried at St. Peter's Anglican Church Cemetery, Foxley River, Lot 11.
Mary (Clow) Matthews and William Matthews are both buried at Princetown Road Cemetery but one side of a stone at Princetown Road United Cemetery in Springvale says William Matthews 1867-1947, Eliza E. McLean 1863-1926, and Mary Clow 1841-1927. It appears this William is the son of William and Mary Matthews b. 1867. An interesting thing is that Mary Clow Matthews was buried at Princetown Road Cemetery and William Matthews (3) died at Portage, Lot 10 and was buried at St. Peter's Anglican Church Cemetery, Foxley River, Lot 11.
