Lancaster, Minn. - Idie Cory, 93, Lancaster, died at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock Tuesday, April 29, 2003.
Idie Sophie Elfstrom was born near Lancaster on May 16, 1909, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Glad) Elfstrom.
She grew up in Poppleton Township of Kittson County and attended the Excelsior country school. After completing her education she worked as a housekeeper in the Hallock area.
On Nov. 25, 1939 she married George Cory in Lake Bronson. The couple settled near Lancaster and farmed there for many years.
George had a stroke in 1991 and Idie cared for him at home after his hospitalization. George died March 4 of this year. Idie enjoyed playing the piano, working in her garden and crocheting.
Family members include two sisters, Hildur (Luvern) Nelson Hallock, and Marlys Elfstrom, Lancaster; a brother, Harris (Gladys) Elfstrom, Lancaster; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four brothers, Willard, Samuel, Everet and Floyd.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. in the Assembly of God Church in Hallock, Rev. Martin Durfey, presided.
Pall bearers were Doug Elfstrom, Roger Elfstrom, Sidney Nelson, Roger Pankratz, Van Pankratz and Jay Pankratz.
Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock, was in charge of arrangements.
