G. A. Murray, Donaldson, was in the city to see if he couldhave his name stricken from the jury list. About the time court is in sessionhere, Mr. M. says he will gbe in the Roseau country getting out a hundredhead of stock for shipment to the cities.

Ed. Lundren has sold out his place of business to FredLindberg. Mr. Lindberg is well known in the city and neighborhood and hewill doubtless enjoy a share of the trade in his line of business.

John Ross, Thos. Harborn and Jacob Dunn, all of Northcote,were passengers on the south bound train, the latter going as far as Stephen,while the other two were on their way to the state capitol where they willfurnish testimony in the matter of the proposed investigation of our stategrain inspection system.

We understand our neighbor, Ole Holmgren, has sprung hispurse by paying $1,400 for the Dure property, next door to McLeond's andwill move therein as soon as his license runs out at his present stand.

Eph. Clow has bought the old Cowan farm at Humboldt. IfEoph. keeps on accumulating property, it will keep him so busy that he willhave to shut down on his snap shot machine.

1949 - 50- years ago

On Washington's birthday, a group of Hallock people vacationingin Florida met at Coral Gables for a picnic on the beach. It was 80 aboveand all enjoyed the bathing facilities. Among those at the picnic were Mr.and Mrs. McVean, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pemberton, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lindberg,Mr. and Mrs. George Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Larson, Kennedy, and Mr.and Mrs. Alvin Holmquist, Grand Forks.

Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Peterson celebrated their 65th weddinganniversary March 2 with an open house. Mr. Peterson is 88 and Mrs. Petersonis 86. Mrs. Clyde Bailey, a daughter, made and decorated the cake.

Luverne Dreher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dreher, Lake Bronson,who has adopted the ring name of "Luverne Cole" won the covetedJoe Louis award offered by the world's heavyweight boxing champion, at theChicago national golden gloves competition in which Dreher was selectedto participate.

Miss Hannah Pearson returned to her clerking duties atthe Sterling Store after a forced vacation of seven weeks due to illness.

Pastor R. Seastrand, who is in charge of the Lancaster,Lake Bronson and Saron Augustana Lutheran churches, tendered his resignationeffective immediately. Pastor Seastrand has been in charge of these congregationsfor the past four years. He commented he would likely be accepting a callto Denver, Colorado.

1974 - 25 years ago

Mr. and Mrs. Elden Johnson were presented with a weatherinstrument at the Cub Scout blue and gold banquet. The presentation wasmade for the Johnson's efforts the past years to keep the Cub Scouts inHallock the active organization it is today.

Humboldt placed in two top spots at the Business ActivityDay held at the Crookston technical college. Vernon Bahr, son of Mr. andMrs. Earl Bahr, rural Humboldt took top honors in the decision making categoryand Tom Twamley, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Twamley, took secondplace hoors in the fashion merchandising division. Tom may well have seta precedent for he was the only male entry in the division. He competedwith about 40 contestants.

1989 - 10 years ago

The Hallock-Kennedy Wolfpack placed second in the District32 girls basketball tournament falling to Argyle 57-55 in the semi-finals.

Kyle Douglas was born Feb. 25 in Great Falls, Montana toDouglas and Nancy Lysford. Grandparents are Melvyn and Irene Lysford, Kennedy,and Frank Wilebski, Lancaster.

The Hallock PeeWees won the District 16 PeeWee B tournamentat Thief River Falls. PeeWee members are: Ryan Johnson, Scott Younggren,Darrick Haugstad, Garrett Koop, John Finney, Brent Olsonawski, Jae ShinWiese, Mark Olsonawski, Nathan Olsonawski, Ryan james, Lonnie Bergh, ChrisBlaze, Jake Cheslock, Greg Tureson, Drew Mortenson and coaches Jim Younggrenand Gary Koop.

Marcy Koop, daughter of Elaine and Gary Koop, a seniormajoring in business administration, and Erik Younggren, son of Harley andJan Younggren, a senior majoring in finance, are taking an eight week humanitiesstudy tour in Europe through Moorhead State University.

Lowell and Linda Williams, Hallock, announce the engagementof their daughter, Cami to Craig Brand. A June wedding is planned.

John Jr. and Kari Potrament, Hallock, announce the birthof their son, Ian James. Grandparents are John and marty Potrament, Hallock,and Bob and Phyllis Fick, Detroit Lakes.

Matt Gustafson, Hallock, scored his 1,000 point in basketballin a game against Argyle. He is the son of Tom and Patti Gustafson.
