1899 - 100 Years Ago

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Younggren March 31, a boy.

While shoeing a horse at the Two River farm, R. H. Olsonhad a rib broken. Dr. Lockwood fixed him up so he will again be able toshoe horses.

What might have been a bad accident occurred to SheriffAnderson's little boy. The little fellow was sliding down the banister ofthe back stairway at the courthouse and in mounting he over balanced andfell to the floor below. He was found bruised but no bones were broken.

Godfrid Johnson, formerly all around hustler at the Pacific"has gone and done it." He secured a marriage license and togetherwith Frida Nelson boarded the train for Kennedy where they were united inmarriage in the presence of a few friends.

Mr. Uhl, principal of the city school, requests that childrenabout to enter the primary department, start if possible, during the firstweek of the spring term, beginning April 10.

1949 - 50 Years Ago

Rodney Prosser, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Prosser,was seriously injured when a tractor he was driving turned over pinninghim beneath. Young Prosser was delivering a new Massey Harris Farmall tractorto the Odin Storien farm. When he reached the Levine Anderson turn, in somemanner the machine did not right itself and turned over. He suffered severalbroken ribs, one of which punctured a lung.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Hemmes and children returned from Hampden,Iowa where they spent the winter months.

Marie, the nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wilebski,who reside on a farm east of Lancaster, was operated on at the local hospital.The little girl's appendix had ruptured some time before the operation wasperformed. Her progress is slow but normal.

1974 - 25 Years Ago

Doug Nelson has been chosen the Lancaster Lions club Farmerof the Year for 1974. Nelson, began farming in 1966 and now operates 1,600acres while feeding 60 head of beef cattle.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gatheridge, Hallock,March 31. He has been named Paul Charles.

The Hallock "Farmers" independent basketballteam traveled to Pembina to participate in an eight team tournament sponsoredby the Pembina Jaycees. Team members are Dick Satterlund, Perry Pearson,Harold Anderson, Jim Johnson, Dean Carlson, Tom Gustafson, Cedric Gustafson,Russell Craigmile, and Ken Bengston.

1989 - 10 Years Ago

The local barbershop quartet entertained the Hallock AmericanLegion Auxiliary members at the post's 70th birthday party. Quartet membersare Dwight Lundeby, Ron Fossell, Dr. Duane Rutz, all of Hallock and Dr.Mark Olson, Cavalier.

John and Rhonda Deere, Hallock, announce the birth of theirson March 17. He has been names John Deere. Grandparents are Jerrie Deere,Hallock, and Shirley Nordine, Concord, Calif.

Confirmation took place at St. Patrick's Catholic ChurchApril 2. The confirmands were : jennifer Cheslock, Chris Potrament, JasonSteen, Donna Carriere, Heidi Sebenaler, Kari Bowman, Genevieve Sevigney,and Daniel Sevigney.

The Ken and Kathy Wiese family, Humboldt, were honoredat the University of Minnesota as the "Outstanding Farm Family of theYear" from Kittson County.

1994 - 5 Years Ago

Matt Gustafson, Hallock, son of Tom and Patty Gustafson,was named to the Minnesota Academic All-State boys basketball team.

Campbell's soup labels in the amount of 538,000 were shippedto the Campbell's Soup Company for Jonathan Headley for which he will receivea computer. The labels were collected by family and friends.will receivea computer. The labels were collected by family and friends.
