1899 - 100 years ago

John Meldahl, Robbin, biked over to Hallock. Mr. Meldahlhas just returned from college in Minneapolis to take charge of the Teienschool.

The "cock pit" was the center of attraction inHallock. C. F. Peterson matched his bird against Jos. Purvis' and the NewYork farm bird won after a hard battle.

In addition to his already large and commodious machineshops, Mr. Malmstrom is having a large annex built for repairing of enginesand horse-shoeing and is making extensive improvments on his old buildings.

Mrs. John Henry, who in company with a sister, has beensojourning in the south for health, during the past couple or three months,returned home via the Northern Pacific and St. Vincent.

1949 - 50 years ago

Donna Pearson, Kennedy High School senior girl was a winnerof the State Bar Association's essay contest. They wrote on the subject,"Why Freedom Depends on Government Under Law." The award consistsof a five day trip to the nation's capitol.

A wedding was solemnized May 14 when Helen Boroski, Lancaster,became the bride of Harold Mattson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mattson,Lake Bronson.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Trolin returned to Hallock from theirhoneymoon trip and are now comfortably located in Mr. Tolin's home. Mrs.Trolin was the former Lillie Bill.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Blide, Sr. entertained the members ofthe bridal party and a group of friends at their home after wedding rehearsalof their son, Paul Jr., and their future daughter-in-law, Irene Twistol.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ash visited at the Arthur Sylvester homein Des Moines, Iowa while enroute from Washington, D.C. and Mrs. ArthurSylvester and children accompanied them here for an extended visit at theWm. Sylvester home.

James Florance arrived home after an extended visit tohis daughter, Edna and family in Washington, D.C.

1974 - 25 years ago

Dr. G. W. McAllen, optometrist, has moved his offices fromthe former location on Highway 75 to the Glidden building next door to ClayDrug.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ingeman, St. Vincent,at the Kittson Memorial Hospital, May 16. He has been named ChristopherNathan.

Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Bengstson announce the engagement oftheir daughter, Dianne Lynn to Bill Nyquist, son of Mr. and Mrs. GeorgeNyquist, Duluth. A July 27 wedding is planned.

The Kennedy community welcomes Bernice Hultgren back totheir midst. Bernice had planned to make her home in Thief River Falls butstayed there for the winter only.

Wayne T. Anderson was elected Municipal Judge of West Fargorecently. Wayne is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kennard Anderson and has a lawoffice in West Fargo. He is married and has a son.

S. R. Terrence Moran, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Moran,Hallock is stationed at the Navy training center in San Diego, Califoirnia.

1989 - 10 years ago

First graders, Paul Maloney and Kristin Anderson, werethe winners of the bike drawing during a bike safety exercise held at HallockElementary School.

J. T. Anderson, son of John W. and OPam Anderson was namedvaledictorian and Eric Isaacson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Isaacson, was namedsalutatorian for the Hallock Class of 1989.

A girl was born to Henry and July Noel May 21. She hasbeen named Rachel Marjorie.

Heidi Hedman, daughter of Gary Hedman and Michael Hoekstra,son of Le Roy and Ruth Loekstra head the 1989 graduating class at KennedyHigh School.

The FHA girls and Greg Wilson plus a few willing workersare landscaping around the Lancaster school.

Jody Renville, daughter of Leonard and Elaine Renville,Hallock, and Charles Schmidt, son of Peter and Rose Schmidt, Rugby, announcetheir engagement. A June 25 wedding is planned.

Maura Marie, daughter of Dale and Denise Nelson, ThiefRiver Falls, was welcomed into the Redeemer Church through Holy Baptism.Sponsors were Kyle Anderson and Mary Anderson, Thief River Falls. Also attendingwere great-grandmas Florence Anderson and Pearl Tureson, Hallock.

Border Conference champs were the Kittson Central boy'svarsity golf team. Team members are Greg Tureson, Lonnie Bergh, Jeremy Backous,Brad Olson, Scott Younggren, Darrick Haugstad and Coach Terry Berg.
