1899 - 100 years ago

The Imperial Elevator at this place was struck by lightning,badly shattering the roof.

Mr. and Mrs. Gus Sundberg went to Minneapolis. Mr. Sundbergwill take treatment at the hospital before returning home.

Jas. Robertson, of the Robertson Lumber Co. at Draytonkhas been spending a few days in and about Hallock hunting chickens.

The N. P. passenger had a small wreck between Pembina andWinnipeg and Geo. Johnson, the express messenger, was killed. The rest ofthe passengers escaped without being hurt.

Helen and JoAnn Swenson, daughters of Mr. and mrs. AugustSwenson, Jupiter township, and the Jupiter Busy Bees 4-H club, won grandchampionship placings on their canning exhibits at the Minnesota State Fair.

Leonard Drake, Isaac Coleman, Ronny Nordling and Lois Dipple,left for Bemidji where they will begin their second year of study at BemidjiState Teacher College.

David Peterson , Hallock, sold his farm to Chris Nordlingand son, Duane. The Chreis Nordling family will move to the farm and Duaneand his his will occupy a smaller home on the farm. Mr. Peterson recentlypurchased the West Hotel in Hallock.

Kenneth Wiese is visiting his friend, David Ash, and MarilynAsh is visiting Kathryn Wiese for a few days.

1975 - 25 years ago

A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Percy Blake, Hallock,Sept. 1. She has been named Kimberly Sue.

Mr. and Mrs. Clem Dziengel and grandson Tommy Dowdle attendedthe graduation of Kathryn Dowdle from Midway Hospital School of MedicalTechnology.

June Webster graduated from St. Luke's school of NursingAug. 16. June is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moris Webster, St. Vincent.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moore, Jr. and family traveled to DevilsLake to view Robert Moore's art exhibit at UND-Lake Region College.

Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson, Kennedy, announce the engagementof their daughter, Bethany, to State Representative, Chris Tjornhom, Richfield,son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Tjornhom, Richfield. A Nov. 11 wedding is planned.

Lloyd and Doris Peterson and tgheir daughter, Kathy, spenta week in Yellowstone National Park with their daughter, son-in-law andfamily, Rev. and Mrs. Fagerberg, Moorhead.

Some of the Swenson relatives got together at Bessie (Abney)Swenson's cabin at Steele Island, near Warroad. Those in attendance wereDoris and Carl Swenson, Oscar and Margaret Swenson, Lyla and Elmer Swenson,Owen and Judy Swenson and boys, Carol Jean Swenson and Frances Swenson.The occasion was to celebrate the visit of Frances Swenson. Frances livesin the cities now but was a missionary in Nepal for many years.

A girl was born to Brian and Julie Pastir Aug. 29. Shehas been named Stephani Jo. Grandparents are Richard and Deloris Peterson,Hallock, and Norbert and Laurel Pastir, Roseau.

Alvin and Doris Erickson spent a few days visiting withJeanne, Jerome, Kari and James at Hoffman, Jim and Linda Erickson, Minneapolis,and Tom Etters, Stillwater. The highlight of the trip was a ride in a bi-wingopen cockpit Stearman airplane at Flying Cloud Airport.

Harriet Docken, Lou Johnson and Maxine and Jim Sjostranddrove to Winnipeg to see "Damn Yankees" at the Rainbow stage.

Clarice Hewitt, Palm Springs, Calif. was a house guestof Gladys Rynning. Clarice is a cousin of Gladys and she had come for theLorenson reunion.ning. Clarice is a cousin of Gladys and she had come for theLorenson reunion.
