Dorothy M. Deere, 89, Kennedy, died Saturday, July 20, 1996 in United Hospital, Grand Forks.
Dorothy Mae Bowman was born at Humboldt Aug. 28, 1906, the daughter of Reuben and Margaret (Wilson) Bowman.
She was united in marriage May 20, 1926 to Louis Deere, Jr. at Hallock.
After their marriage, they resided in Kansas City, Mo. until 1929 when they moved back to the Hallock area. They farmed near Hallock until 1936 when they bought a farm at Kennedy, where Dorothy lived until her death.
She was a member of Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy, where she was involved in the Ladies Aid, Missionary Society, Bible studies, and in later years, the WELCA.
Louis Deere, Jr. died in 1987.
Family members include a son, Louis C. Deere, Kennedy; daughters, Jeanne (Robert) Dahl, and Beverly Lundberg, both Kennedy; Cheryl (Robert) mattson, Warren; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Farley Bowman, Eau Clair, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Vyrlee, an infant son, sisters Lenore Bowman, Ruby Haines and brothers, Lester, Ray and Glen Bowman.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 23, 1996 at 2 p.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy. Rev. Carl Seamon officiated and interment was in Kennedy Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Dahl, Mark Lundberg, Rich and Tom Deere, Kelly Mattson, Allan Davis, Steve Lofstrom, and Dr. Michael Traynor.
Music was provided by Lindsay Davis, Charles and Patti Swanson, and Ruth Hoekstra.
Arrangements were with Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock.
