LEVI DIAMOND OBITUARY
Humboldt, Minnesota - Levi Diamond, 72, of Humboldt, died Sunday in a Hallock hospital. Born April 15, 1899 in Humboldt, he received his education in rural Kittson County and attended high school in Minneapolis. Mr. Diamond married Margaret Balderston on August 28, 1927, at Hallock. He farmed in Clow township until his retirement in 1967. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Younggren, Mrs. Alfred (Betty) Strege of Torrance, CA and Mrs. Ralph (Joan) Rud of Ft. Benning, GA; and one son, Allen, of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Mrs. Aneta Stewart and Mrs. George Hugil, both of Hallock, 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Humboldt Methodist Church with Rev. Edwin Werner and Rev. Walter Christman officiating. Burial will be in Joe River Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Stennes-Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock.
Margaret Diamond, 91, Hallock, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, in Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock.
Margaret Balderston was born Sept. 23, 1909, the daughter of Benjamin and Lillie (Fitzpatrick) Balderston, in St. Vincent, Minn. She grew up in St. Vincent and attended school in Humboldt, Minn. She married Levi Diamond on Aug. 29, 1927, in Hallock. They lived and farmed near Humboldt. He died Dec. 6, 1971. She moved to Hallock and in July 1996, moved to Kittson Memorial Nursing Home.
She is survived by daughters, Lucille (Harold) Younggren, Hallock, Betty Reis, Los Angeles, and Joan Reed, Dothan, Ala.; a son, Allen (Louise), Corpus Christi, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James; brothers, Earl, Cecil and Bill; and sisters, Rose, Ila, Jean and Dale.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, First Presbyterian Church, Hallock.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m.prayer service, Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock.
Burial: Joe River Cemetery, Humboldt.
