Marva Alta Hanson

Marva Alta Hanson Obituary - 72, of Hallock, Minnesota, died Saturday, October 15, 1994 at United Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was born in Hallock on September 15, 1922, the daughter of Herbert and Annie (Turner) Diamond of Humboldt, Minnesota. She attended elementary school in Humboldt and graduated from Hallock High School in 1941 and worked at the ASC office in the Kittson County Courthouse at Hallock. On October 5, 1941, she was united in marriage to Byron G. Hanson at Humboldt, Minnesota. For 53 years Marva and Byron farmed in Kittson County and during the past 25 years they spent winters in Arizona. Marva enjoyed growing flowers, caring for her home at Northcote, ice skating and handwork. She had an avid interest in genealogy and donated two books of the Diamond family history which are on display in the Kittson County Museum. Most importantly, she devoted time, energy and love to her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Marva was a member of Red River Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Byron; a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Gayle Hanson of Hallock, Minnesota; a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn Hanson and Eric Stimson of Helena, Montana; six grandchildren, Shawn and Jerod Hanson, George and Kate Hanson, and Carl and Natalia Stimson; a great-granddaughter, Laine Hanson; and a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Helen Diamond of Humboldt, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Hanson; her parents; a sister, Amey Johnson; and a brother, Hurdis Diamond.
