Obituary

Marion (Gruenke) Easton

Marion Easton, 84, Humboldt, died at the Kittson Memorial Health Care Center, Hallock, Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997.

Marion Gruenke was born May 8, 1912 near Morris, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Emil and Mary (Fenske) Gruenke.

In 1919, the family moved from the Morris area and settled east of Emerson. Marion grew up and attended the Manchester School. She received her nurses training at the Misericordia Hospital, Winnipeg, and went on to work as a registered nurse in New York State and later in Hallock.

On March 30, 1949, she was united in marriage to Harris Easton at Hallock. The couple farmed near Humboldt for many years.

They moved into Hallock in 1980. Harris died April 22, 1984. Marion was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church.

Family members include a daughter, Ellen (Charles) Malmberg, Appleton, WI; two sons, William (Diane) Easton, Fergus Falls, and Donald (Ruth) Easton, St. Vincent; several grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred Gruenke, Winnipeg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harris; four sisters, Emma, Louise, Ruth and Helen, and six brothers, Theodore, Albert, Robert, Otto and two infant brothers.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997, 4:00 p.m., Humboldt United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Rev. Mark Bateson, presiding.

Special music provided by Robert Bockwitz and Lyndon Johnson. Pallbearers were Richard Jurgens, Gerald and Kenneth Gruenke, Richard Remus, Erik and Mark Easton.

Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock, was in charge of arrangements.
