Minnie Elfstrom

LANCASTER, MINN. Minnie Elfstrom, 80, Lancaster, died at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center Hallock, Saturday, April 17, 2004.

Minnie was born March 2, 1924 in Baudette to Tom and Caroline (Melin) Porter. She attended school in Carp, near Baudette.

Minnie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She moved to Lancaster and worked at the Nicholson and Magnuson farms.

On March 2, 1941 she married Samuel Elfstrom at Lancaster.

She operated Minnie's Cafe for a number of years. She later worked for the city of Lancaster as the manager of the Municipal Liquor Store for 23 years, until her retirement in 1989.

Minnie became a resident of the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in July of 2002.

She is survived by two daughters, Paulette Rustad, Lexington; Debra (Jerry) Groves Lancaster; two sons, Jimmey (Kathy) Elfstrom, Albertville, and Roger (Brenda) Elfstrom, Lancaster; special friend, Frankie Potrament; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Melvin (Diane) Porter, Longview, Wash.; two sisters, Evelyn Larson, Baudette,and Pearl Gilbertson, Houston, Texas; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel; three sisters, Clara, Selma and Mabel; and three brothers, Axel, Walter and Clifford.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 20, 2004, 10 a.m. in the Sion Lutheran Church at Lancaster. Interment was in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Timothy Lundeen, presided. Pallbearers were Minnie's Grandchildren.

The Adamson-Austin-Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock assisted the family with arrangements.
