My Grandma was born on August 18, 1925. She was born inArveson Township in Kittson County. Her parents were Lauretz and MyrtleAnderson. She went to school in Karlstad. She lived on a farm while shewas growing up. She helped carry wood and water, milking cows, haying,shocking grain and corn, and helped work in the garden. She had 1 sisterand 1 brother. She is the youngest out of her sister and brother. Shelived on that farm for 18 years.
She got married to Reuben Netterlund on July 2nd, 1945. They got married in California at Wee Kirk of Heather. She went out thereto work because Reuben was in the army and was stationed at Camp Roberts.
My Grandma worked at a Nursing Home. She helped cleanand cook while she was living there.
They moved to Karlstad in 1945. In 1946, they bought afarm west of Karlstad in Deerwood Township in Kittson County. She had 5children; 2 girls and 3 boys. She was a home maker while she was livingon the farm and baked bread, cookies, cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, pie, cake,and she liked to sew.
She also worked on a potato picker during the fall for5 years.
She also helped trap gophers.
My Grandpa passed away on March 23rd, 1965. Grandma andher children continued living on the farm.
In the summers, they lived on the farm and in the wintersthey rented a house in town.
Then she sold the farm and built a house in town of Karlstadin 1973.
Grandma worked at the Hartz Store for many years.
In 1974, on October 28th, she started working at the NursingHome in the laundry department in Karlstad. She also worked in the housekeepingdepartment.
In 1980, her daughter, Dawn, passed away in a drowningaccident in Florian.
Grandma retired in 1992 but went back to work part timehelping fold clothes in the laundry department.
