Orville Noble Steen

Orville Noble Steen was born to Pete and Maria Steen onApril 30, 1919 in Poppleton Township, Kittson County, Minnesota. He grewup and went to Poppleton Country School only until the 8th grade. Later,he married Betty Steen at the age of 18. Together, they had 6 children:Cathy, Rosi, Connie, Mary, Graig, and Debbie who unfortunately died to pneumoniaat only 6 months of age.

He worked for a farmer and had a small piece of land thathe farmed himself. He was a nice person to meet, he always went out ofthe way to help other people. He entered the services on July 3, 1932. During the war, he served as a truck driver, a doctor (people called himDoc Steen), a barber, and delivered supplies. During his time in the war,he earned many bars. He left the war on January 7, 1946. After the war,he worked down in California.

In 1989, he died from a heart attack.
