Someone dreamed a dream . . .and it came true. Someone wished a wish . . .and it came true. The moment that dream and that wish came true, history was made.
But history isn't a single moment, it's days, years and decades of hard work and disappointments mingled with the joys of living. As each man, woman, and child lived, he built toward an ultimate goal. The goal which began as a dream . . . as a wish.
The Red River Valley didn't become famous in one day. It took people years to construct, bit by bit, a productive valley. Finally, there were thousands of builders and a monumental task was near completion.
It is about these individuals that the English classes under the direction of Mrs. Martha Roberts and Mr. Richard Heine have written. The essays are not about the people whose names appear in bold print in history books. They are about the farmers and small-time businessmen who laid the groundwork for the succeeding generations. The people who dreamed the dream . . .wished the wish . . .and made them both come true.
