Preface

by

Mark Baldwin

Heritage is the corner stone on which a country is built. A glance into the past can be more meaningful than a look into the future. Everyone is fascinated by the cultures, customs, and hardships that HIS ancestors went through to develop this land of milk and honey.

The Red River Valley has hidden the lives of thousands upon thousands of people, their births, their deaths, and their accomplishments. To discover these secrets all one needs is a love for the past and the patience to listen.

The students of Humboldt-St.Vincent School under the direction of Charlotte Bratlien, Jerome Ertelt, Dale Finney, and Martha Roberts have heard the cries of the Valley and are trying to capture these tales for all to enjoy.

"Look to the past to build a better future" is the key to progress.
