Stella Fitzpatrick Jones was a Canadian Citizen but received her naturalization on March 13, 1953, Petition No. 156378 in the U. S. Court in Los Angeles, CA. Certificate in possession of daughter, Jackie. Birth Certificate and Marriage license are in her possession. She was Baptized and confirmed at the Hallock Lutheran Church in Hallock, MN by Rev. Erickson and Rev. Swanson. Their father left them to go to Michigan and her mother, Ella Lucas Fitzpatrick, took George and Jean, the younger children back to Canada. The three older sisters: Kay, Edith and Stella were left on the Hallock, Minnesota poor farm to be raised by Kaia Anderson and Mr. & Mrs. Norland and the Carlson's. She left in 1928 and moved to Michigan to live in as a housekeeper. She then moved in with her sister, Edith, and her husband, Norman Miller. Stella worked in Detroit at a Beer Garden, where she met Larry Jones. She worked the lunch hour and he came in for lunch. Edith worked at a restaurant and changed jobs with her sister as Larry didn't want her working a a Beer Garden. She didn't work after she married Larry. They lived in an apartment in a house upstairs. After Barbara was born, they moved to Kenny Street on East side of Detroit, then to 13360 Maiden Street. This was where Paul was born. In 1942, they moved to Brendal Lake and 1945 they moved to California. Larry lost his right eye in 1945 and moved to Sierra Madre. He couldn't work so they lost that house. Mrs. Mack got us a place to live in Duarte untill they could buy another house in Azusa. Stella ran the U-wash for a year. they lived at 740 Hollyvale Avenue in Azusa, 1948-1950. They moved to Saxton Street in Wilmar and then to Granada in Alhambra. They bought again in San Gabriel, King Street. Larry sold that house and they lived in apartments until they bought a trailer in the Santa Anita Park in Monrovia. Stella now lives in the Arcadia Gardens Retirement Home in Arcadia, close to her granddaughter.

Larry lost his right eye in 1945 and then moved to 600 E Sierra Madre Blvd. in Sierra Madre.

He couldn't work so they lost that house. Mrs. Mack got us a place to live in Duarte till they could buy another house in Azusa. Stella ran the U-wash for a year. She lost her sight in her right eye and partial in her left from Glycoma. She was completely blind when she died.

She moved in with her daughter Barbara, April 1996 at a trailer park in Walnut. Barbara moved to Twin Peaks, CA and bought a home. Stella lived there until she got pnemonia and had to be taken to the hospital where she died.

Census 1920 she is found on the poor farm in Hallock, MN along with her two sisters, Kaye and Edith.

Census 1930 she is found living on Mayberry St in Detroit with her sister Edith along with her first husband Norman Miller and a daughter Norma. They had two boarders Frank and Dorothy Huse.

BIOGRAPHY: As told by son Paul D. Jones:

Lawrence was born and raised in Bay City, Michigan. At 15 he had a job as a soda jerk at a drug store in Bay City. When he was 16 he worked in the coal mine. At 18 he joined the Army WW1. He had the influenze while he was stationed at Fort Zachary Taylor, Louisville Ky. He was discharged because of a hardship, his father was sick. While he was stationed at Fort Taylor, he was always mistaken for a Sgt. who was related to the Whiskey Distillery owner of Paul Jones Whiskey. That was the reason they named their son Paul Jones. He married Grace Talbot around 1920 and divorced her around 1929.

He met Stella when she worked at a Beer garden in Detroit, at the lunch hour.

In 1925 Lawrence worked for Buick. He had his own business in Detroit called Detroit Tool Salvage with Ward Basey. When they moved to California, he owned Los Angeles Tool Salvage on San Julian St. His partners in Detroit and in California were Charlie Mc Kuen and Bill Bosan. Then he owned Grindall Co. as sole owner untill he sold the business to Paul in 1965. He continued to work for Paul but was getting tired by this time. He lost his right eye in 1945, due to the mal-practise of a Doctor in El Monte, Calif. He had got a piece of emery wheel in it. He was a Mason and was Baptized a Baptist. He always said he lived by the golden rule " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" He told us many stories of his childhood, as he had a very mean father. Lawrence died at the Santa Anita Conv. Hosp. He was moved there after being hospitalized at the San Gabriel Com. Hosp for 3 months. He died the first night he was at the Conv. Hospital. Death due to Cardiac Arrest. He had Cancer of the Prostate and Cancer of the left Kidney. His left kidney was removed. At the time of death he was living in a Mobile home at 1226 S. 5th Ave. #22B Monrovia, Calif.

Jacqueline Susan Jones, born 12 Jan 1934 in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI. Notes: BIRTH: Birth certificate #582-390888 born at the Womens Hospital in Detroit MI. CHR: 2nd time Baptised Catholic at the San Gabriel Mission 8 Mar 1952. MARRIAGE: Angelo and Jacqueline were married at the San Gabriel Mission Church by Rev Father Michael Montoya on 21 Feb 1952. Attending Bride maids were as followed. Sister Barbara, Carole Davidson, Pat Beaman, Janet Farraro. Ushers were Best Man Anthony Longo, Jerry Williams, Neal Cloud and Wayne Fields. Jackie was living at 7732 Saxon St. in So. San Gabriel at time of marriage. She worked for Bank of America for 33 years starting at the San Gabriel Branch. She was a Branch Manager of West Glendale when she retired July 31,1987. Birth records for children are in possession of Jacqueline Mangana. Nick name is Jackie. She attended Goodale Grammer School in Detroit, lived at 13360 Maiden, then moved to Brendal Lake and attended White Lake School, a one room school house. When they moved to Calif. in 1945, she attended Columbia Grammer school in El Monte. Then the Sierra Madre Grammer School, they lived at 600 E Sierra Madre Bl. in Sierra Madre. They then moved to a U-Wash in Duarte on Huntington Dr. and she attended Duarte Grammer School, then Lee Intermediate of Azusa. She lived at 750 Hollyvale in Azusa. She started High School in Azusa and attended Citrus High School, which was also a Jr. College. In 1951 they moved to Wilmar and lived on Saxton St. This is where she met her future husband Angelo. She was married in 1952 and finished High School at Mark Keppel graduating in 1952. They lived in a little house behind his parents at 1237 S Palm in San Gabriel. After Angelo got out of the Navy they moved to Cabrillo St.in San Gabriel,then to Marguerita St in Alhambra. They bought there first house in 1958, at 12234 Redberry St in El Monte. Three children later, they moved in 1963, to 5534 Halifax Rd. Sold it in 1993 and moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona. They built their first new home at 2815 Widgeon Lane and moved in March 1st 1994.

Barbara Estelle Jones, born 2 Aug 1936 in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI. BIRTH Certificate #4578268 Reg. No. 16220 At the time of her birth her parents lived at 1475 Pingree in Det. MI. Barbara graduated from Alhambra High School in Alhambra California class of 1955. She worked for a short time in L.A. at Bingham, Walter and Hurry. She married Don Summerville Feb 25, 1956 at the Bethany Church of Alhambra. The wedding dinner was held at Gwinns in Pasadena. Ca. The wedding was family members only. One week later they had a reception at Story Park for family and friends. They honeymooned at Green Valley lake in the San Bernardino Mts. The cabin belonged to a customer of Don's. They were divorced in 1976. She also worked for Dr. De Grozio and Dr. Tannebaum. She met David Daly her second husband, while visiting her brother Paul in Big Bear, CA.. They were married May 22, 1987 at Valley Community Church in El Monte, Calif.. She retired from Klienworth Benson in Pasadena Ca as a Bookkkeeper. They now live at Twin Peaks, CA in the San Bernardino mountains.

Paul David Jones, born 27 Jan 1940 in Detroit, Wayne, Mi. Notes: Paul graduated in 1958 from the third class of San Gabriel High School in San Gabriel California. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, Jan 1959 a few days before his 19th birthday. He was stationed at Fort Ord in California, and after his basic training went on to Machinist school in Aberdeen Proving grounds Maryland. He was then sent to the Precido in S.F.and was stationed at Ft Baker in the 532 Eng Co..Port Construction. He was then sent to France, June 1960 and was there during the Berlin Crisis. He reinlisted for another 3 years, so he could marry his lovely French girlfriend Andree. They where married twice, once in Jarville in the City Hall on May 18 1962 and then at the Church the next day, at Toul Depot on May 19,1962. He was stationed at the Nancy General Depot about 5 miles from Nancy France, on Hwy 54. In June of 1962 he was burned at a picnic for the Maintenance Division while starting the BBQ. He was rushed to Verdum, France by Ambulance with 2nd and 3rd degree burns and had to have skin graphs. A Sgt. Paul Genander saved his life by rolling him on the ground. Paul came back to the U.S.A. in April 1964 and was stationed at Ft Knox KY. He was discharged the 26 of April 1965. Paul bought his Dads tool and cutter grinding business "Grindall Co". shortly after he came back to California. He works with his son David.
