Kittson County Enterprise Obituary, 14 Apr 2004

Karlstad, Minn. - William Gorsuch, 91, of Karlstad, died at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, on Tuesday, March 30, 2004.

William was born in Ray, Illinois on April 7, 1912, son of John and Ruth (Cooper)
Gorsuch. He moved with his family to North Dakota when he was five years old and settled near Cavalier. In 1918 they moved to the Karlstad area.

On July 17, 1939 he married Ragna Haugen at Hallock, Minnesota. They settled on a farm east of Karlstad and raised their family there. In addition to farming and raising livestock, William also did construction work in the area, helping build an addition on the Karlstad school, the local elevator and the potato washing plant in Karlstad.

Ragna died April 24, 2003.

Family members include five sons, Ervin (Stella), Hallock; Raymond (Carolyn), San Lorenzo, CA; Kenneth (Helen), Yakima, WA; Dave, Halma; and Earl (Betty) also of Halma; two daughters, Gloria Gustafson, Greenbush; and Mary (Rick) Daigre, Grafton; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a sister, Erma Such, Grand Forks, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ragna; two sons, Norman and Larry Dean; a daughter, Linda; three brothers, John, Russell, and Keith; and a half-sister, Alvina.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the Bethel Lutheran Church, Karlstad. Interment was in the Karlstad City Cemetery. Rev. Mitchell Tolpingrud presided.

Pallbearers were Steve Anderson, Brian Anderson, Everett Englund, Shawn Gorsuch, Joshua Daigre, and Scott Gorsuch.

Adamson-Austin-Hughes Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
