Wesley Hazelton

Lake Bronson, Minn. - Wesley Hazelton, 91, of Lake Bronson, Minn. died at Kittson Memorial Hospital in Hallock, Minn. Friday, July 11, 2008.

Wesley was born July 23, 1916 east of Lake Bronson to William and Ethel (Belcher) Hazelton. He went into the service on Nov. 1, 1941. He served with the U.S. Signal Corps stationed at Orlando, Fla. during WWII. He came home in 1945 and has been a member of the Lake Bronson-Halma American Legion Post 215 for 62 years.

Wesley farmed with his brother, Harold, until Harold's death in 1984. Then he placed the farm in CRP and did appliance repair work and met many wonderful people.

He married Doris Souder June 9, 1956 at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad, they had been married for 52 years.

Wesley served on the Norway Township Board and later the Percy Township Board where he had served from 1967 to 1997.

Family members include his wife, Doris; a sister-in-law, Joan (Allan) Olson, Halma; two nieces, Nancy Martin, Riverside, Calif. and Rhonda Wallach, Reno, Nev.; a special family, Arlyn and Darlene Sollund, Bemidji, their children, Amanda (children, Madison and Jerry), Erin and Jon also of Bemidji; Sherry Simon and her son, T.J., Cottage Grove, Minn.; and first cousin, Dr. Royden Belcher, Little Falls, MN.

He was preceded in death by a son, George; parents; and his brother, Harold.
