Orleans, Minnesota

Orleans is the small town between Humboldt and Lancaster.

Orleans today has three homes, two elevators, privatelyowned, and several other buildings that stand as grim reminders of a onceflourishing community.

Orleans, on the Soo Line in Kittson County, dates backto 1904 and while it was not destined to be more than a village it was animportant trading center in its time.

In 1905, Orleans had a bank, lumber yard, general store, four elevators, hotel, blacksmith, and restaurant.

Many of the Orleans businesses were moved and many closedwith the depression of 1929. Some were burned down and still others wereturned into homes.
