Irene (Jenkins) Bonge, 97, died Monday, May 25, 1998 at Plainview Manor, Plainview, Nebraska.
Irene Charlotte Jenkins, daughter of Ephriam M. Jenkins and Kate May Clow, was born September 8, 1900 at Humboldt, MN.
Irene attended college at Moorhead State Teachers College, Moorhead, and at Valley City, North Dakota State Teachers Collegef. She taught school in northern Minnesota for seven years.
She was united in marriage to Reverend Benjamin H. Hart at the Methodist Church in Humboldt, July 14, 1926.
She attended the Kimball School of Theology at Salem, Oregon for two years with her husband, majoring in religous education. They lived at Shedd, Oregon, a student charge, during this time.
She lived in Mansfield, Sequiem, Coupeville and Snoqualmie, all in Washington, where Rev. Hart served the Methodist Churches in each place, and in Nebraska where Rev. Hart served the Methodist Churches in Superior, Plainview-Osmond, and Eustis-Farnam charges.
Rev. and Mrs. Hart retired in June, 1960. They purchased a home in Cozad, Nebraska where she lived for ten years. Rev. Hart died August 7, 1968.
Mrs. Hart was united in marriage to George Bonge on November 21, 1969, at the United Methodist Church, Plainview, Nebraska. Bonge died May 25, 1970.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nellie Jansen, Dixon, California, several nieces and nephews, and four step-sons, Everett, Lloyd, and Larry Bonge, all of Plainview, Nebraska and Glen Bonge, Norfolk, Nebrask and their families.
Funeral services were held at Ashburn Funeral Home, Plainview, Nebraska, 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 1998 with committal and burial at the Cozad Cemetery.
