Janet LeMasurier

Janet Murcy Knapp LeMasurier, 93, Paynesville, and formerly St. Vincent, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the Koronis Manor, Paynesville.

Janet Murcy Knapp was born January 6, 1906, to Walter R. Knapp and Mildred Grant Knapp in Orrock Township, Sherburne County. She attended rural School District #30 in Orrock Township and graduated from Big Lake High School and St. Cloud Teacher's College. Her last teaching job was grades 3-4-5 in St. Vincent.

On July 25, 1928, she married Harvey LeMasurier, St. Vincent, in the Meadow-Vale Methodist Church, rural Sherburne County. They farmed north of St. Vincent until their son Stanley was married in 1955 and took over the farming operation.

Janet and Harvey moved into St. Vincent and Harvey was the custodian of the St. Vincent School. Janet was the secretary for the Humboldt-St.Vincent School District with her office in the Humboldt school.

After their son Stanley's death in 1963, they resigned and moved to Ontario, California. While living there, Janet was active in the Ontario Community Hospital Auxiliary. In May 1988, she moved to Paynesville to the newly built congregate housing-700 Stearns Place. In November 1998, she moved to the Koronis Manor, also in Paynesville.

She was a member of Christ's Episcopal Church, St. Vincent and Upland Episcopal Church, but attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Ontario, Calif., and Paynesville Lutheran in Paynesville while living in those cities. When visiting in Pembina and St. Vincent, she attended the Evangelical Free Church in Pembina.

Janet is survived by her grandson, Timothy LeMasurier Dow, his wife, and their three children, Saratoga Springs, New York; a sister-in-law, Lillian Knapp, Minneapolis; one nephew; one niece and Lynne and Peter Jacobson and their children, Janet's relatives in Paynesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey, Nov. 10, 1986; son, Stanley; a sister, Margery Knapp; and brother, George Knapp.

Funeral services are Wednesday, March 10, at Paynesville Lutheran Church, Paynesville. Funeral services and burial will be held in May at St. Vincent.

Email from Ron Mattson 11 Feb 2003:

I found an obituary for Janet Knapp LeMasurier on the internet using google -- it shows on the bottom of the page I printed out

(she died in Paynesville, MN).

Her one child, a son, died in 1963 (according to this obituary) ... "Janet is survived by her grandson, Timothy LeMasurier Dow, his wife Charlene, and their three children, Heather, Tim, and Jordan, of Saratoga Springs, New York; a sister-in-law, Lillian Knapp of Minneapolis; one nephew, one niece, and Lynne and Peter Jacobson and their children, Laurie and Michael, Janet's relatives in Paynesville."

At some point I may try to contact the grandson in New York.
