Served in World War I, Co D, 306th Infantry, 77th Division. Killed in action in the Argonne Forest. (Recently a movie called "The Lost Battalion" was made about this battle....Olaf was part of this battle.)
Remains of Olaf's body were never found....his name can be found on the tablets of the missing at the Meuse-Argoone WWI Cemetary in France. The Halma-lake Bronson American Legion Post #315 is named after Olaf Locken for being the first killed in action from that vicinity. Each Memorial Day, Olaf is honored during "Call the Roll" at the Halma-Lake Bronson American Legion Post #315 Memorial Day service. "On this Memorial Day let us dedicate ourselves to the task of carrying on that those whom we honor shall not have died in vain."

BEMIDJI, MINN. Doris Irene Sele, 81, of Bemidji, formerly of Lake Bronson, died Friday, April 23rd 2004, at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Doris was born December 31, 1922, to Selmer and Selma Locken in Hazelton Township.
She graduated from Lake Bronson High School.
On May 4, 1941 she married Stanley Sele. She lived in the Lake Bronson area, and worked as a secretary for the Lake Bronson and Karlstad school districts. Doris and Stanley owned and operated a drive inn restaurant and had a bulk fuel business. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Bronson.
She enjoyed crafts and to grow flowers, and was involved in church and community activities.
She moved to Bemidji in February 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Dale) Engstrom of Kingman, Ariz.; her son, Douglas (Carol) Sele of Bemidji; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn Aubertin and Eleanore Lang, both of Spokane, Wash., and Sandy (Kris) Martin of Lake Heron, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Russell Locken and Kenneth Locken, and her husband, Stanley Sele.
Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Bronson, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 26, with
burial following in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson. Dan Matz, presided. Pallbearers were Odeen Anderson, Bob Rich, Rodger Hultgren, Vergil Poole, Larry Sele and Harvey Baker.
Adamson-Austin-Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock, assisted the family with arrangements.
