Story from Jean Lowe family history book:

"Vernon Lowe was the only son of Samuel and Mary Ellen who participated in the construction business.

Family tradition is that he had a part in laying, completing or repairing the Charlottetown Seal set out in tile just inside the south door of the Charlottetown fire hall. The working copy of the pattern is in Eleanor Lowe's possession. When Vernon Lowe died of pneumonia in 1905, the heart seemed to go out of Samuel. Eleanor Lowe, Alexa Prowse and Jean Lowe were talking about Vernon's death one day and Alexa said, "Do you remember the day he was buried, Eleanor? It was so cold and snowy. We were having a blizzard and they had to take him to the cemetery on a sled."" He never married.
