Matthews, John Smith
M: 1915, Pearl Ramsay b. 1895 d. 1982. Daughter of Bertram and Martha (Wright) Ramsay of Montrose. They had one child, Randolph Ray Matthews (1916 - 1961), Editor Newspaper. They lived on John's father's farm and he taught school for several years at Northport and other Island schools. He sold the farm about 1920 to his cousin, Russell Matthews, and moved with his family to Kensington, PEI, where he was employed as a bookkeeper with Kennedy Company for three years. In 1923, he and his family moved to Edmonton, Alberta where he spent the rest of his life.

M: Vera Amy Price and had two daughters and a son, Raymond. Randolph was owner-editor of The Enterprise newspaper in Alliance, Saskatchewan and died suddenly while attending a newspaper convention in Vancouver, B.C. in 1961. His son, Raymond, was also employed with the newspaper.
