M: 04 Oct 1864, Unknown Cobb (must be an error on the marriage date - she would only have been 9 years old if her birth year is correct). Bruce H. Matthews says the 1881 census describes Mary Jane as 26 years old, living with her father in Elmsdale, with a son, Norman. The census reads her name and Norman's name were still Matthews so Norman's father may or may not have been the Cobb she later married.
