Lived on the old home which had been the home of his grandparents, Charles and Jane Matthews which he inherited from his Uncle Alan who did not have any children. He farmed the land and also farmed land of adjoining farm of his father which was owned by brother's son, Earl. He sold the land in 1973 to William Campbell. He built a new home in Elmsdale and worked for the PEI Department of Highways.

M: Colleen McInnis. He was engaged in the lobster fishing industry and farmed with Glen Rennie. Colleen worked at Maplewood Manor and they had a son,

M: Fred McElihiney, son of Ethel and Leonard McElihiney, St. John, New Brunswick. They lived in the Dock for a time, in a mobile home which was located on the old Matthews homestead. While living at the Dock the first of their three daughters was born. In 1972 they moved from the Dock and took up residence in their home in Alberton. She works for Sears in their Alberton Store. Fred was employed by West Prince Dairy and they have three daughters:
