Crookston, Minn.- Helen Erickson, 75, died March 7, 2002 at the Villa St. Vincent Home, Crookston.

Helen Amelia Erickson, the daughter of Josephine (Jensen) and Lorne McEwen, was born June 30, 1926 in Grafton.

She grew up and went to school in Humboldt and later graduated from Hallock High School in 1944. She and Walter Erickson were united in marriage on Feb. 21, 1946 in Roseau.

Helen worked at the A.S.C.S. office in Roseau for over 30 years. She was active in many community activities; including the Roseau American Legion Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed sports; curling, bowling, golf and watching hockey.

After Walter's death in 1992, she remained at home until moving to the Villa St. Vincent Home in Crookston in 1996.

She is survived by three sisters: Doris West, Santa Maria, Calif.; Elizabeth Deere and Ortie (Warren) Kinshella both of San Diego, Calif.; brother, Neil (Maxine) McEwen, Cross Lake; sister-in-law, Ferly McEwen, Emerado, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter in 1992; sister, Ruth Moose; brothers, Peter and Lorne McEwen; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Deere and Jack West.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 12, 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Roseau. Rev. Gary Liker officiated.

Interment was at the Hope Cemetery in Roseau. Memorials preferred to the United Methodist Church or Villa St. Vincent Home.

Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Roseau was in charge of arrangements.
