When Eva Miller passed away in 1918, three of her young daughters were sent to the USA to live with relatives. Hazel May Miller was one of these daughters and she was only 10 years old. She lived and was raised by her father's sister and husband, Elizabeth and Joe Sugden on their farm in Lancaster, MN. She was very lonesome for her own brothers and sisters, as their family was grown up, and only one son, the youngest - Lloyd (1894 - 1964) was still at home. The Sugdens are buried in Hallock along with the Miller family.
