Ramsay, James (Penelope M'NUTT, Penelope STEWART, Chief Justice Peter, Reverend Charles) was born on 7 Oct 1829 in Hamilton, PE, CAN and died on 30 Dec 1905 in Hamilton, PE, CAN.

James was a farmer whose formal schooling was limited to a one-room community school. He further educated himself and became the reporter of the Legislative Assembly in 1861, a post he held for two decades. When the Assembly was in session, James traveled to and from Charlottetown on horseback. He was an Elder of the church in Malpeque for 30 years and a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. In 1864 he purchased a farm and log cabin from John and Mary Knight, located about 200 yards from the edge of the Shipyard River. They lived in the cabin until they were able to build their own home.

James married Elizabeth RAMSAY, daughter of Edward RAMSAY and Mary DRUMMOND, on 6 Nov 1865. (Elizabeth was born in 1839 in Hamilton, PE, CAN and died in 1894.)
